what is occupational therapy?
Occupational therapy is an allied health service focused on helping people of all ages regain, develop, or maintain the skills needed for independent living and to be able to participate in meaningful activities. Our therapists work with individuals to address physical, cognitive, emotional, or environmental barriers that may be impacting one's ability to engage in daily activities.
How do i get started?
Give us a call at 0422 755 004 or email info@jjot.com.au to self-refer. We will complete a screener form over the phone to ensure we can provide the services you need and discuss any waitlists that may apply.
what can i expect during my first appointment?
During your first appointment, one of our lovely occupational therapists will conduct a comprehensive evaluation. For pediatric clients, this will be a parent-only initial consultation to ensure we can gather all the necessary information before meeting your wonderful child.
how long do therapy sessions last? what frequency do i need?
The duration and frequency of therapy sessions vary depending on the individual needs of the client. Typically, sessions are booked for an hour, which includes 50-minutes of face-to-face therapy and 10 minutes for notes. Additionally, travel and planning time may be applied to the invoice as needed. Most sessions run on a fortnightly basis, however, weekly and monthly appointments are available depending on client needs.
do sessions have to occur in the clinic?
We understand the importance of accessibility and convenience for our clients. We offer telehealth, school/kinder-based and community-based services in addition to in-clinic sessions to allow individuals to receive quality care. Please call the clinic or talk to your therapist to determine if these options are appropriate for your needs.
I only need an assessment. is this an option?
